Yeah, just try to delegitimize and stigmatize people for being impacted by media- when actual peer reviewed research has shown that media has a large impact on people, especially children.
Yup, just ignore science so that you don’t have to deal with the fact that maybe a multi-billion dollar animation company isn’t a paragon of perfection. That seems reasonable.
How is that ‘science’? Psychology, maybe, but legitimate science? No.
I watched all of these movies and I never once cried over not being exactly like a Disney princess. Besides, this picture is just saying that the animators shouldn’t have to change their art just because it makes you self-conscious. They can do what they want and you can choose to watch it or not. They don’t have to cater to you.
Did you just say that Psychology isn’t “legitimate” science? Oh brother.
Yes, maybe YOU feel as though YOU were not personally impacted by this PARTICULAR facet of media. That does not mean that no one else IS legitimately impacted by forms of media, or that media shouldn’t be criticized for contributing to legitimate social issues.
Totally agree with the OP.
For fucks sake these are CARTOON CHARACTERS. Cartoon. Not real people. Cartoon characters are usually stylized to emphasize their personalities, or to simply make the drawing style recognizable.
If someone has their self-esteem damaged because a cartoon character doesn’t look perfectly realistic, then yes, they have issues, which is their business, and the cartoon’s creator is not responsible.
I mean I was a huge fan of Powerpuff Girls as a kid but I didn’t want to cut off my fingers to look like them…
I’m just tired of this feminist over-sensitivity. I mean one over-sensitive person gets butthurt over something and this means that every single human on Earth, incuding “multi-billion-dollar animation companies” should cater to their needs. Well, guess what, they won’t, because they give zero fucks about your ridiculous issues. Stop blaming everyone else for your own problems and take some fucking responsibility.
